Reasons Why You Should Drink These 2 Beet Juices

Fruit beet juices have received a lot of bad press over the past few years, claiming that they are full of sugar and should be consumed in moderation. Well, this is the case for most foods: everything should be consumed in moderation, so keep this in mind when juicing every day. If you have a sweet tooth or are borderline diabetic, sticking to vegetable juices would be more beneficial for you. If you don’t like vegetables, then this is an excellent way for you to include them in your diet.

Be aware that drinking too many fruit juices can increase your calorie intake: one small juice could contain three or four whole fruits, so choosing vegetable juices is preferable.

When you juice fruit and vegetables, you remove the fiber, which is necessary for a healthy diet, so it’s vital to replace the cord with ingredients such as ground chia seeds or ground linseeds. Alternatively, you could use the pulp from the juicer to make soups or muffins, for example. Beet juices are fantastic for consuming and help you fight various diseases.

Make these three beet juices, and learn the benefits of them.

1. Citrus beet juice

Makes about 400 ml

  • One orange, about 160 g
  • One beetroot, about 125 g
  • 1/2 cucumber, about 175 g
  • One large carrot, about 150 g, plus extra to decorate

Roughly peel the orange. Juice the orange with the beetroot, carrot, and cucumber.

Pour the juice into a glass, decorate with slices of carrot, and serve immediately.

For spicy citrus beet juice, follow the recipe above, adding a 2 cm (3/4 inch) piece peeled fresh root ginger to the juicer with the other ingredients.

2. Heart beet juice

Makes about 350 ml

  • One orange, about 160 g
  • one beetroot, about 125 g
  • One apple, about 125 g
  • ice cubes

Grate the rind of the orange onto a plate. Roughly peel the orange and cut into wedges. Rub the rim of a glass with a wedge of orange, then dip the side of the glass into the grated orange rind to coat the bottom.

Juice together the orange wedges, beetroot, and apple.

Pour the juice into the prepared glass over ice and serve immediately.

For green heart beet juice, follow the recipe above, adding 50 g (2 oz) spinach to the juicer with the other ingredients.
